Integrated Space Flight Systems
You have by now visited the other pages and from that, you will have an understanding of both the Modular Space Design and its basis within an Independent Manned Multi-Purpose Spacecraft. You will also have seen the way the multi-purpose capability of the craft is expanded using Intersections.
The integration of MSDC, IMMPS, and Intersections enables the last and most exciting stage in development, making the leap from just Broadsword 5, the craft, to Project Broadsword.
Imagine the possibility of parts, components, even entire modules being used again and again in differing spacecraft and applications.
The ERM, described before as being the most versatile of intersection. Imagine the cost saving in development R&D if ERM modules could be used as part of an Earth Orbit Spacecraft, similar ERM modules then being used in the building of a Space Station, using ERM's as part of a Trans Lunar Transport System, Lunar Orbiting Transfer Stations, Trans Lunar Stations, Lunar Landing Vehicles, even the Lunar Settlement it self could be built from ERM's. The compare this cost with that of developing and the manufacturing purpose built hardware only able to fill the one role. Would I be far from the mark saying the savings would be measured in Millions?
One Module, 8 applications, the development cost spread out across the whole project. The manufacturing cost tumbling as a result of the mass produced Modules, remembering of course the related components parts of the ERM are also used in the manufacture of the Broadsword 5's CM and RCJ System.
The Same Frame. The Same Panels. The Same Jigs and Fixtures.

The capability offered by The Open ERM using gaskets gives the potential of limitless room sizes.
Lunar Settlement:
The open ERM would undoubtedly make a major contribution to the construction of any Moon base or Lunar Settlement. Modules would be added as required in either building up large structures or simply as individual units.
The building options are as limitless as those presented to a child using building blocks.

Taper gasket application:
The application of a Taper Gasket opens the door to even more exciting projects. Not only will it aide construction, over contours when building on the Moons surface, but the collective use of such a gasket could certainly raise the potential of producing a circular structure of ERM's thereby opening the way to a Space Station that when rotated would be capable of generating an Artificial Gravity.
Gasket Taper subject to further investigation and subsequent Requirements.

Open ERM Application using both standard and tapered gaskets
.......................................
The standard configuraion gasket is shown here (Left) forms the basic layout for a Space Station Hub while the artwork opposite shows how the tapered Gasket can aid the creation of an outer ring which, when rotated, could produce an artificial gravity.
Supply:
When considering the application of Broadsword Integrated Spaceflight System The craft, the Space Stations, and the Lunar settlements, we must now equally consider supplying these facilities and keeping them stocked and running. I applying the Integrated System however we will find our selves going in full circle. As opposed to the concept of an Independent Manned Multi-Purpose Spacecraft when now find we can use an Independent Unmanned Multi-Purpose Spacecraft. A droid unit replacing the Manned element will allow Broadsword to fly supplies and equipment where ever and when ever it is required.
Again it must be noted the only specialised segment of the craft would be the Droid Control Module. The rest of the craft is as described through out these pages. Another application with minimal R&D when compared to the building of a specifically tasked craft.
